‘Telugu garden’  a small school has been running for decades in the Irvine City of California for the children of Telugu families.

Irvine is famous for having world’s best universities, colleges and public schools,  including Prestigious University of California.

Vidya Tadanki from Vijayawada, India has roped the seeds of this little ‘Telugu Thota’ (garden), decades ago. She started the school in 2002, with only 7 students in which two were her own children.  Without any formal training in Telugu teaching, she is teaching Telugu to the children.

In the beginning, she used to take only a batch in a week,  but now, she is taking five batches.

Ms. Vidya completed her schooling from the Nirmala Convent  school in Vijayawada and  received her post graduation degree in English language from the Osmania University and Journalism degree from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Hyderabad. She has also served as a sub-editor in an English magazine in Kolkata, India.

She moved to California in 2000 and was working as an English teacher. She was teaching English to Spanish children, after that, she moved to Irvine and decided to teach Telugu to a few children along with her own.

Around 250 children has passed out from her ‘Telugu Thota’.
