The top place in the California Academic Decathlon has been secured by a Los Angeles high school. The team from El Camino Real Charter High School emerged the winner in the entire state.

El Camino were in a strong position on all the three days of the competition held at Sacramento. The school team took the top position in the "Super Quiz" as well as in overall competition.

On Sunday, El Camino scored 57,747 out of a total of 65,400 points. The school team defeated 64 other competitors to clinch the title. It even beat out Granada Hills Charter High, the state and national champion of 2011-13.

The victorious team were questioned on subjects such as science, math, economics, art and literature.

Now El Camino and Granada Hills will participate the state as well as the national academic competition in Honolulu in April.
