Ramesh Solanki, Hindu activist and member of Shiv Sena IT cell, filed a complaint against Netflix for allegedly defaming Hindus.

In his complaint, Solanki alleged that the United States-based online streaming platform has been producing content that is “defaming Hindus and India” on a global level.

“Almost every series on Netflix India is with the intention to defame the country on a global level. It is deep-rooted with Hinduphobia that the platform is portraying the nation in a bad light,” Solanki has stated in his complaint.

“I urge the authorities to look into all of the above-mentioned content and take the necessary steps from summoning their team to canceling their licenses as deemed fit. One cannot allow an incorrect generalization based on bogus rhetoric trying to defame a religious minority I.e. Hindu in countries other than India,” he added.

He also called on police to “take necessary legal action” against Netflix for “hurting Hindu sentiments”. He said that he will be submitting video evidence through a copy of CD to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Commissioner of Police and the Cyber Cell on Wednesday.

Solanki, in his complaint, cited examples of series like ‘Sacred Games’, ‘Laila’, and ‘Ghoul’, as well as shows of standup comedian Hasan Minhaj.
