Cricket in Srilanka is once more in the news.

In a new development, the goings on in the cricket world has once again put the game to shame. Two Srilankan cricket umpires were caught in a television sting operation, open to receive money in return for compromised cricket matches.

Maurice de La Zilwa and Sagara Gallage are now suspended after the TV operation ratted them out for the world to see. Maurice de La Zilwa is under suspension for 3 years, while the latter has a 10 year ban laid upon him. Another accused in the affair, Gamini Dissanayake, was almost let off for lack of proof.

The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), who are now involved in the incident, stripped Dissanayake of his seniority. He had allegedly claimed that SLC officials will get any work done, if they are provided alcohol.

Lat October, six ICC umpires from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan were supposedly exposed by a TV channel for trying to fix matches, help players and provide pitch information before the Sri Lanka Premier League.
