Wild Pursuit through valley for Sherrif’s cruiser, shot fired

An early morning pursuit on Tuesday led to shots being fired across Santa Clara and San Fernando Valley. This was in connection to theft of LA County Sherrif’s cruiser and this led to arrest of a shirtless, barefooted man early this morning.

LASD and CA Highway patrol began searching for the stolen vehicle at around 6:40am in Santa Clara area. This led to a chase from 210 Freeway in Sylmar to Northbound I-5 and Northbound state route 14. It then went on to Exit on the surface streets before the shots were fired.

The suspect fled through south of Sierra Highway to Balboa BLVD, through Northridge where shots were fired. Through there are no reports of injury known yet. It is also unclear who actually fired those shots; the suspect or the Police Officers.

The stolen Sherrif’s cruiser stopped between White Oak Avenue and Kittridge street, where the suspect was caught at around 7:17 am. Though it is not yet clear whether the suspect was hurt or hit by the bullet. Also he could not be identified immediately.

There is no confirmation from the officers yet, regarding the circumstances which led to the vehicle being stolen and also what initiated the pursuit.

More reports to come in as investigation progresses. The Police is at the scene and traffic is halted at the surface street.
