The Sikh Coalition launched a new online tool, ‘Report Hate’ for the safety of the Sikh community members in the US. The move will help to fight hate crimes against the Sikh Americans in the country. The members of the Sikh community can report incidents of discrimination, harassment and hate violence in the US. The move comes exactly two months after the terrible shooting in San Bernardino, California.
Arjun Singh, law and policy director of the Sikh Coalition, said that, "America belongs to all of us, the data helps drive change and victims of bigotry and hate violence should document and report their mistreatment through this new tool."
He said that, the information, collected through the online tool, will be helpful to better identify the types of bigotry Sikh Americans face and the geographic areas, where they are acutely vulnerable. The coalition said that, "the data also enables us to better target our outreach efforts to law enforcement, educators, community leaders and lawmakers at the local, state and federal levels."
Arjun said that, "the Sikh articles of faith are easy targets for the bigoted and hateful." "We are committed to combating this problem, especially when hate violence and hateful rhetoric are on the rise."
