Evacuations are triggered in California and Oregon due to Western Wildfires, which left many without power in Washington. The Washington was enveloped in a thick gray haze on Sunday.
According to a report from NBC station KGW of Portland, fire officials closed the main highway between Mount Hood and Portland in central Oregon due to Warm Springs Fire that swelled to 50 square miles. Also, Kah-Nee-Tah, a popular resort evacuated 500 employees and guests. Few Warm Springs residents also fled.
The massive Cornet Fire that blazed across 137 square miles in Eastern Oregon evacuated dozen communities residents, said a KGW report. Half a dozen blazes were being battled by hundreds of firefighters in the north, around Washington resort town of Chelan, between Spokane and Seattle.
On Friday, lightning strikes triggered the fires. Thus, local hospitals were forced to relocate few patients and 2,000 people were left without power. Few residents have also been evacuated from the area. According to officials, over 50 structures were destroyed with the possibility of increase in number. In a Sunday update, CalFire said that 14,000 firefighters were battling with 19 fires across the state.
