‘Dabiq’ an online magazine has published an article which stated the heartfelt condition of women in the grip of Islamist militants.
While men had option either to convert themselves to Islam or be shot, but young women were left with one choice and that was sold as sex slaves.
"They separated all of us," said Hanan, 19. "They dragged us away by our hair. They took married women, young ones. The youngest with us was just 10. We were all crying.” she says.
Hanan is one of the woman refugees taking shelter in the Shariya refugee camp.
“They said we are going to marry you off, you will forget your family."
Hanan also mentioned that they were made to believe that women who had just given birth or are breastfeeding were considered impure and so they cannot be taken as sexual slaves.
Stating her condition under their captivation, Hanna said for first week she along with 50 others were regularly beaten and threatened and were given just a bowl of rice.
"They would line about 50 of us up at a time, in rows of 10. They would say don't move, don't cry or we will beat you. The men would come in and describe the kind of girl they wanted and then they would pick and choose as they pleased," she recalls.
She was eventually separated from the group and small groups each consisting of seven was formed. These groups were taken to individual houses where they were made to work. Later on, Hanna along with other group mates evaded from the place on getting an opportunity.
