The city’s firefighter department is scheduled to start training of second batch at Terminal Island on Monday which includes only two women.
The recruitment process shows unfair process of selection with overwhelming number of white men.
The city data showed, racial minorities were more in past years, but the administration has failed to implement new screening process.
"That's the key," said Fire Commissioner Jimmie Woods-Gray. "There's not enough women and African Americans applying."
In March 2014, the mayor had stopped hiring of LAFD, stating that thousand of candidates were rejected for not submitting paperwork in first 60 seconds of a filling period, to which many applicants said they had no information about it.
The mayor further added that each gender and ethnic group was ensured a percentage of slots equal to their proportion of the initial applicant pool
Of the more than 10,000 people who entered the lottery, only 5% were women, city data show, limiting the likelihood a large number would advance through testing and interviews to be hired.
