Tickets of North Carolina, Puerto Rico and Texas have matched all the six numbers drawn in Powerball Jackpot, lottery officials said on Thursday. The winners will split the jackpot amount $564million among themselves.
Sue Dooley, senior drawing manager and production coordinator for the Multi-State Lottery Association said the Puerto Rico ticket was the first powerball jackpot winner ever sold outside the United States.
Ticket sales had pushed the jackpot to $564 million just before the winning numbers were drawn, official said.
The winning numbers were 25,11,54,13,39 and the powerball number was 19.
Nearly $380 million in ticket sales pushed the jackpot up to $564 million in the moments before Wednesday night's drawing. If no ticket won, Saturday's jackpot probably would exceed the $656-million jackpot in a 2012 Mega Millions lottery, Traverso said
It has been nearly a year since a Powerball prize has reached the giant number. It was in February 2013, that someone had won $425.3 million.
Wednesday's jackpot was the third-largest in Powerball history and the fifth-largest U.S. lottery prize. The last time a Powerball jackpot climbed so high was May 2013 when a Florida ticket won a $590.5 million prize.
The jackpot now goes back to $40 million for the next drawing on Saturday.
