KS Chithra, a renowned singer who has received national awards, has faced backlash on social media for a recent video message she shared. In the video, which has been circulating on various social media platforms, Chithra encourages people to chant Lord Ram hymns during the upcoming Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya on January 22. She specifically asks everyone to chant the 'Sri Rama, Jaya Rama, Jaya Jaya Rama' mantra at 12.20 pm, the time of the ceremony. Additionally, she suggests that people light five-wick lamps in their homes in the evening to commemorate the occasion.

Chithra, who is 60 years old, concludes her message by reciting the Sanskrit hymn "Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu," expressing her wish for blessings from the Almighty to be bestowed upon everyone. However, some individuals on social media have strongly criticized her for this message, viewing it as taking a political stance. On the other hand, there are also social media users who support Chithra, asserting that she has the right and freedom to express her opinions. Another singer, G Venugopal, has come to Chithra's defense, expressing his disappointment at the insulting and hurtful remarks made online.

Chithra kindly asked the critics to pardon her if they disagree with her statements. The online assault on Chithra occurred shortly after actress Shobhana faced harsh criticism from a group of individuals for taking part in a women's empowerment event hosted by the BJP in Thrissur. At the event, she shared the stage with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Fondly referred to as the 'Vanambadi' (nightingale) of Kerala, Chithra has lent her voice to numerous songs in various languages and has been honored with several national and state awards.
