One of the biggest Hindu temples in US, the 68th Swaminarayan temple of Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) built at a whopping amount of $100 million is located in Los Angeles.

Built from 35, 000 pieces of hand carved Italian Carrara marble and Indian Pink sandstone, the 20-acre building is world’s first earthquake proof temple.

The temple designed to last for 1000 years has become a major attraction for its grandeur and architecture.

With 91 foot lotus-shaped reflection pond, a cultural center, a gymnasium and classroom, the state-of-art design patterned temple encompasses five pinnacles, two large domes and four balconies.

As per a volunteer of the BAPS, the temple is designed in such a manner “calm the mind and open it”.

Apart from its mesmerising architecture, the temple relies on environmental friendly technology such as use of solar power system to generate electricity.

Time and again, the temple authorities are conducting programs to spread awareness on spiritualism among the devotees.

The temple is the fifth traditional Hindu Temple in North America which was inaugurated in the year 2012 inspired by his holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
