Parachute Kid sentenced to Prison in Rowland Heights park

A Chinese student was sentenced to three years jail on Tuesday. He was charged in the case of a fellow “parachute kid” in a Rowland Heights park, an assault which prompted soul-searching on both sides of the Pacific for the dangerous details of the attack.  The attention was brought to the increased numbers of teenagers who attend high school in California while their parents remain in China.

Zheng Lu, 20 years old, pleaded guilty to assault, was the fourth student from China to receive prison for the incident. Three others were already serving prison terms, ranging from six to 13 years, for the attack on the woman. Zheng and others kidnapped their classmate of years old and took her to a Rowland Heights park they stripped her naked, beaten, burned with cigarettes and forced to eat her own hair.

The case reminded the Judge of “Lord of the Flies,” by William Golding’s novel of 1954 about boys stranded on a deserted island without grownups.

a group of so called parachute kids attacked the 18 years old victim, stripping her naked, kicking her with high-heeled shoes, slapping her and burning her with cigarettes on March 30, 2015.
